Typhoon ‘Butchoy’ intensifies further, maintains northward direction

MANILA, Philippines - Typhoon “Butchoy” (Rammasun) continued to intensify as it maintained its northward course Saturday night, state weather forecasters said.

In its 11 p.m. advisory, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said “Butchoy” was some 1,010 kilometers east of Tuguegarao, Cagayan, as of 10 p.m.

Pagasa said “Butchoy” packed maximum sustained winds of 185 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 220 kph, and was moving north at 19 kph.
